For this painting I went out in the morning and visited a place nearby that I hadn’t discovered until now. And I don’t really blame myself for not having noticed it. From the road, it didn’t look so special, but once I set foot on the path through the trees, I stumbled upon a badger sett. By the sight of it they must have had a real party the night before. Then I arrived at this beautiful stretch of water, surrounded by dried-up grasses, which still had to be brought to life during spring. So I set up my easel there, and while I was doing so, I saw a deer not far away from me.
The deer saw me as well but just stayed anyway. It doesn’t get much better, right? So, I started to paint away with that bright morning sun hitting the grass and the cool greens of the pine tree trunk.
