This turkey hen, living a few blocks away from me, was going to be painted sooner or later. A curious creature… In my childhood I had spent a lot of time with different kinds of chickens, so you get to know the variety in their personalities a little bit. I guess in my mind I simplified a turkey as a kind of big chicken with an ugly face… But it’s a different cup of tea. This one here lives together with another hen in a large mixed animal park/field. You can’t enter, but you can look each other in the eye. And these two came to check me out, curiously running, like they were high on ADHD. Giving me a look from up close, and a split second later being bored and running off to their next adventure. I wanted to take some pictures because their mood was contagious, I guess. It took a bit of effort, but I got one of them to take another quick pose. It was a short encounter of mutual curiosity, and then she had better things to do. No moment to lose!
