This is an oil painting of a group of vans together with one car that are parked indoors in an industrial building. The focus of this painting is a Volkswagen T3 van. This work was painted from observation, but the vivid brushstrokes and the use of non-typical colors, such as bright lemon yellow, together with deep blue and purple give room for imagination.
My studio is located in an old machine factory in Drachten, called the Sluisfabriek. As a sort of experiment, I am working on a series of “indoor plein air” paintings where I am exploring the different scenes in the building. I am not going to stage the objects, instead painting what I see as if it were landscapes.
