This is a painting that I created in the summer of 2025, and it was actually the first painting I created that consisted of multiple canvases. I stumbled upon this fallen tree already a year before and was fascinated by the rich vegetation that had emerged around it. That summer I had created a small piece of it, but I felt this was a subject that required more space and time. The final work as you see it here was created over multiple sessions, both plein air and in the studio.
An interesting detail that I should mention, for certain textures, such as the moss, and certain parts of the tree trunk, I created paint that consists of marble but also specific ochre pigments that I brought with me from a visit to Sweden.
