This is an oil painted portrait of a mink in bold alive colors. While the natural red-brown color of the fur is painted, there are also a lot of unusual colors like blue, yellow and even green used on the face of this alert-looking animal. The background atmosphere is much lighter, and painted in a tint of yellow-green. The brushstrokes themselves are kept very visible and direct, with a sense of action and movement.
I saw this mink during a holiday at the coast in South Sweden. At first, I didn’t recognize what it was and pointed my camera at it. Surprisingly, while looking through the lens, I saw that it was actually running towards me, to the point where it was so close that it became confusing to me. An encounter that I will never forget!
