This is an oil painting of the cliffs at Gorge D’oppedette, in the south of France. The work has been painted in soft light earth colors in loose blended brush strokes. As a small detail, I have included a human figure (me) to create a sense scale for the large rocks.
For this painting I have created paint from various stones that I found, which I first had to grind into a fine powder, which was then dispersed in line seed oil. When viewed up close, coarse particles are visible in the paint.
