It’s kind of bizarre how everything changes color constantly. It goes gradually, so no one’s really shocked. But if you put images of it right next to each other, for example a sunrise and an overcast afternoon, it almost doesn’t look trustworthy. It can’t be the same place, right?
In 2023 around January I had been painting outside almost every day, and these were very moist grey times. So, lots of subdued, grayish paintings. But I also caught a sunrise in between, with those bright magenta moments. In the series it felt so out of place. I constantly felt the urge to reject that one. But had no valid reason, apart from my subjective feelings. After two months of grayish works, I brought in lots of colors and rejected the grays it seemed. Until that became too much as well, and muted colors were back. There is a moral to the story probably, but I seem to keep forgetting it, so I just keep painting… And, revisited a new sunrise…
