The basis for this painting lies in the real world, however, it would be impossible to paint the real brightness of sunrise. A painting can never give light… The intensity of light coming from the sun is many times higher, when compared to the clouds and surrounding atmosphere. Complementary colors are used here. Blue versus orange, and yellow versus purple. When mixed together they create black, but next to each other they’re perceived to be extra bright. Rather than painting everything that is supposed to be there, here’s an illusion of sunrise.
