On this morning I went outside just a little bit before sunrise. It was snowing, but I thought, perhaps it will stop soon, and then I’m ready to go. But it didn’t stop, so I went ahead anyway. I started to paint with a brush, but that was impossible since both the brush and the palette became covered with ice crystals. So, I went in with the palette knife, just like yesterday. I love that of painting outdoors, you make decisions you wouldn’t make in the comfort of the studio. Sometimes you end up painting the experience and atmosphere rather than the precise subject in front of you.
