I started this painting on a cold, somewhat foggy morning. It was the first time I was at this little canal. There was a little wooden platform so that you could get close to the water. A place where you just want to spend some time and observe the shapes and reflections. After a while I set up my easel and started painting. A few months later I revisited the painting, added the green and magenta glow, bringing it to a new atmosphere.

In between the reeds, right at to the water’s surface of a canal. There is a glow of warm transparent green, magenta that contrasts with the blue violet water.
