During our trips, I bring along small samples of stones and soil that contain pigments I could use for oil painting. Last year I brought different ochres and also green clay from Sweden. I use these when I think a painting could use something extra in addition to the commercially available paint. Right now I am working on a painting of a moss-covered tree stump, and I feel that at a certain stage of the painting I’d like to be able to use something additional. The first thing I thought of was a green clay from Sweden. I recorded the process in this short video.
